The Opening Shot

Just sitting here this morning have a morning cup of “Joe” and I’m thinking (that can be dangerous) about the employment figures that were released last week. The good news is that about 220,000 jobs were added, the bad news is that so little was mentioned about the 800,000 American Veterans that remained unemployed. I am not suggesting that progress is not a good thing, in fact I believe that every American that wants to work should have an opportunity; that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Unfortunate, but true! Now let’s consider our Vets for a second. Many took the time to raise their hands and vow to “protect and serve”. They said I will defend our Country, proudly! I think they should move to the front of the employment line. I think employers have a responsibility to make that happen. I think if they do they will make their employees proud. I think they will make our Veterans say thanks for remembering. I think the men and women who sit in the “corner offices” have an obligation and responsibility to make this a priority. It is only going to come from the “top” and those of you are presently at the “top” can make a huge difference.

So I sit here and sip and think, should our Veterans get a little edge in finding a good a job? I am sitting here free, safe and proud to be an American. Our Vets had a lot to do in making that happen. Give them a break, shoulder your responsibility, and make it happen. Pledge your jobs and your support…America Wants You thanks you!
